Janet3Janet L. Hoffmann, CFA, CFP®

Janet holds both the Certified Financial Planner certification and the Chartered Financial Analyst designations putting her in a group of fewer than 2,800 professionals in the United States who are “dual-certified.” Janet provides investment advice, portfolio design, and financial planning to private and institutional clients.

Before co-founding IFS, Janet worked at Bingham, Osborn & Scarborough, a San Francisco based wealth management firm, for five years as a portfolio manager. She was directly involved in financial planning and investment recommendations for all of her clients. Additionally, she was a member of the firm’s Core Investment Committee. Janet also spent five years at Barclays Global Investors, in institutional sales and portfolio management capacities.

She also worked for Horsley Bridge Partners, analyzing venture capital partnerships, and at Sallie Mae, in product development and government relations roles. She is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Francisco, and the Financial Planning Association.

Janet earned a B.A. in International Relations and French from Claremont McKenna College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the George Washington University.

Barry3Barry R. Taylor, CFP®

Barry has more than 35 years of experience in the business and investment world. He has worked with individuals, small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he was a portfolio manager for eight years at Bingham, Osborn & Scarborough, a San Francisco based wealth management firm. He is the former CEO and partner of FACS For Offices, one of the Bay Area’s largest office furniture dealers. His experience provides the firm with a valuable resource for the unique financial planning issues encountered by small-business owners.

Barry has appeared in personal finance and investment segments on news broadcasts, has been quoted in publications such as the Journal of Financial Planning, The Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s, and the San Francisco Chronicle.

Barry, who is a native of the Bay Area and resides in San Francisco, is a former chairman of the board of directors of the San Francisco chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and is the founding chair of its Pro Bono and Education Committees. He also teaches the CFP’s continuing education ethics requirement to financial planners. In addition, he is a member of the Northern California Planned Giving Council.

Barry earned a B.A. in business administration and an M.B.A., both from Golden Gate University.
